“On a Sunday” is a song recorded by the Romanian singer Ester Peony. It was independently released for digital download and streaming as a single on the 17th of January 2019. Ioana Victoria Badea wrote the lyrics, while Peony composed the music alongside Alexandru Șerbu.

The song’s lyrics are focused on a failed relationship, with Peony stating in an interview that “love becomes dangerous when given to the wrong person”.

TVR allowed artists and composers to submit their entries for the ‘Selecția Națională’ between 9th of November and 10th of December 2018. A jury panel made up of music professionals rated all songs; their 24 semi-finalists were revealed on 20 December.

‘Selecția Națională’ 2019, having the slogan “Împlineşte visul!” (“Fulfill the dream!”), consisted of three shows: two semi-finals in Arad and Iași and a final in Bucharest. They were sponsored by Ford.

During the national contest’s second semi-final held on 10 February 2019, Peony qualified for the final in 3rd place by the jury.

On the 17th of February 2019, she was chosen to represent Romania at Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel-Aviv, Israel with a total of 65 points.
