Mălina Olinescu, commits suicide

The Romanian singer Mălina Olinescu who represented Romania in the 1998 Eurovision Song Contest, commits suicide.

The SMURD Ambulance was called at the North Station in Bucharest, Romania (Gara de Nord) early morning on Monday, 12th of December, around 1:00 AM informing that a woman fell from the 6th floor of a block. Doctors tried to resuscitate her for more than 30 minutes, without success.

Friend of the victim, Călin Geambașu, identified her as Olinescu Mălina and they suspect she would have committed suicide because of separation from her lover, Sebastian Gabriel.

Mălina Olinescu debuted at the “Stars of the School” (TVR), in 1998 she represented Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “I believe”. The competition took place in Birmingham, the United Kingdom, she then got 6 points and finishing on the 22nd place.

Moreover, the talented artist committed suicide in the same way as her father did, the actor Boris Olinescu, in 1981, who threw herself from the 10th floor of a block.
