Romania on the 43rd Eurovision Song Contest

Romania was represented on the 43rd edition of Eurovision Song Contest by the Romanian singer Mălina Olinescu with the song called: ‘Eu cred’- “I believe”, the song was written by Liliana Ștefan and the producer of the song is Adrian Romcescu.

The National Selection (Selecția Națională) was held by the TVR on the 14th March 1998. ‘Eu cred’ was chosen to represent Romania in the contest after the votes of four regional jury panels, an expert jury panel and televoting results were combined.

Mălina Olinescu came second with the televoters.

The finale of Eurovision Song Contest 1998 took place in Arena Birmingham in Birmingham, the United Kingdom on the night of Saturday, 9th May 1998 where Mălina performed in 15th place and finished on the 22nd position with only 6 points awarded by the Israelian jury. The spokesperson who offered the Romanian voting was Anca Ţurcașiu.
