‘Change’ by Hotel FM at Eurovision Song Contest 2011
The Romanian group Hotel FM recorded the song ‘Change’ which was later in 2011 released as a CD-Single by the TVR (Televiziunea Română). The song was written and produced by Alexandra Ivan and Gabriel Băruţă. ‘Change’ is uptempo ballad containing drums, piano, and violins in its instrumentation, the lyrics talk about making a positive change in the world and one’s life, all song being in English.
Hotel FM is a Romanian group consisting of British expatriate David Bryan, who provides lead vocals, as well as of Gabriel Băruţă on piano and Alex Szűz on drums.
BBC One released on the official video of the song on the 24th of March 2011, the song also represents the Romanian entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011.
This time TVR placed the National Selection on the New Year’s Eve on the 31st December 2010 where 13th acts were to compete in a televised show broadcast live by TVR 1 and TVR International while a live webcast was provided by Esctoday.com. A live show where the Hungarian entry, Kati Wolf was also invited.
“Change” was chosen to represent Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 at Espirit Arena in Düsseldorf, Germany after the votes of a professional jury panel totaling 12 points and public televoting totaling 10 points were combined, resulting in 22 points.
Former Eurovision winners Johnny Logan, as well as Niamh Kavanagh, were the special guests of the evening. Chiara Siracusa also made an appearance to the live show.
